Las Vegas, NV – Today, the Nevada Association of Public Safety Officers (NAPSO) announced its joint endorsement with the Nevada Law Enforcement Coalition (NLEC) to re-elect Senator Catherine Cortez Masto. NAPSO and NLEC represent 19 law enforcement and public safety unions in Nevada and thousands of police officers, deputies, corrections officers, state law enforcement officers, juvenile and adult probation and parole officers as well as law enforcement civilian employees. “Every day, our brave men and women in uniform work to keep Nevada communities safe, and I will always have their back,” said Senator Catherine Cortez Masto. “As Attorney General and in the Senate I have worked closely with our officers here in Nevada and seen firsthand their commitment to protecting our families. I am proud to stand with NAPSO and NLEC, and will continue to make sure they have the support they need to do their jobs.” “The Nevada Association of Public Safety Officers and the Nevada Law Enforcement Coalition are proud to endorse Senator Catherine Cortez Masto. We trust her to always have the backs of the hardworking women and men of law enforcement,” said Lieutenant Chris Aguiar of the Henderson Police Supervisors Association. “Senator Cortez Masto has a proven record of sponsoring and supporting legislation that prioritizes our officers and the communities they serve. She lives by her principles, as she continues to fight for funding, training and fair working conditions for all of public safety. Senator Cortez Masto is a true friend to law enforcement and we proudly stand with her on behalf of all Nevadans.” NAPSO and NLEC’s members come from 19 statewide associations, including Henderson Police Officers Association (HPOA), Henderson Police Supervisors Association (HPSA), Juvenile Justice Probation Officers Association (JJPOA), Juvenile Justice Supervisors Association (JJSA), Las Vegas Metro Police Protective Association for Civilian Employees (LVPPACE), Nevada State Law Enforcement Officers Association (NSLEOA), Elko County Deputy, Sheriffs Association (ECDSA), Mesquite Police Officers Association (MPOA), and Pershing County Law Enforcement Association (PCLEA), among others. As the former top law enforcement official in Nevada, Cortez Masto has been a leading advocate in the Senate for police officers and is part of the Senate Law Enforcement Caucus. She recently led a bipartisan push to boost police funding in the Senate and secured the most federal funding for local law enforcement in over a decade. Both Donald Trump and Joe Biden have signed Cortez Masto’s bills to support the police, including her legislation to combat the epidemic of law enforcement suicide and her COPS Counseling Act. Cortez Masto recently introduced the bipartisan Invest to Protect Act to significantly boost federal resources for smaller and rural police departments, which would support over 90% of police departments in Nevada. |
