Sen. Cortez Masto’s Gran Fiesta Latina Draws Hundreds of Latino Families from Across Las Vegas

Jul 09, 2022

Las Vegas, NV – While Donald Trump campaigned for his top lackey in Nevada, Adam Laxalt, hundreds of Latino families rallied around Senator Catherine Cortez Masto at her Gran Fiesta Latina. Cortez Masto celebrated Nevada’s Latino communities, met with local community leaders and families, and vowed to continue her fight on their behalf in the Senate.

A third generation Nevadan, Senator Cortez Masto is the first and only Latina elected to the U.S. Senate. After attending public schools in Las Vegas, she went to the University of Nevada, Reno, where she and her sister became the first in their family to graduate from college.

“The difference between a baker from Chihuahua, Mexico and the first Latina in the Senate is two generations,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “This is about our future – who we are, what we can be, and making sure our children have every opportunity in this country and this state. With your help, we’re going to continue that fight.”

Senator Cortez Masto is a champion for Nevada’s working families in the Senate. She led efforts to get Nevada its share of federal relief during the pandemic, bringing Nevada’s unemployment rate back to nearly pre-pandemic levels. With rising prices across the country, Cortez Masto is fighting to lower health care costshold Big Oil companies accountable for rising gas prices, and help build more middle-class housing in Nevada.
