Las Vegas, NV – Senator Catherine Cortez Masto met with hundreds of Nevadans during her rural tour last week, where she joined tribal communities, Democrats, and Republicans and highlighted her fight for Nevada. In Ely, Cortez Masto met with Mayor Nathan Robertson, who crossed party lines to endorse her campaign, and local Republicans. She highlighted her successful efforts to secure funding for Ely’s Downtown Project and local water infrastructure as well as her work to protect local mining jobs. |

With the Ely Shoshone Tribe, Cortez Masto spoke about her fight to combat the epidemic of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and bring additional resources to native communities in Nevada. She then joined Chairwoman Diana Buckner for a tour of the new tribal housing being built with the federal funding Cortez Masto delivered. |

In Elko, Cortez Masto joined Republican sportsmen at the Elko Fly Shop, where supporters discussed their shared love of the outdoors and the senator’s fight to conserve Nevada’s public lands and the Ruby Mountains. |

The Elko Daily Free Press also highlighted Cortez Masto’s meeting with local veterans and her successful fight to secure a National Veterans Cemetery in Elko. Later that day, Cortez Masto joined Pedro Gutierrez and the local Latino community in Winnemucca at Antojitos Doña Chona, where she discussed her work to support small businesses across the state. |

At the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony, Cortez Masto met with Tribal Chairs, Tribal Councilmembers, and Programmatic Directors from across the state. She emphasized her efforts to bring native voices to the table and her work to deliver federal resources to the 28 tribal communities in Nevada. |

And in Fallon, Cortez Masto joined hundreds of Nevadans for the 37th annual Fallon Cantaloupe Festival & Country Fair. With Fallon Mayor Ken Tedford, Churchill County Commissioner-Elect Myles Getto, and Adrienne Snow, Executive Director of the Fallon Festival Association, Cortez Masto stopped to meet with the vendors, performers, and families celebrating Nevada’s agriculture and heritage. |

Cortez Masto has been a fierce advocate for Nevada’s rural communities. She took on her own party and led the Senate fight to protect Nevada’s family farms and ranches from an unfair tax hike. She stood strong for Nevada’s mining industry, single-handedly stopping new mining taxes which would have hurt a critical rural industry and the tens of thousands of good-paying Nevada jobs it supports. She passed a bipartisan bill to ensure rural Nevadans have access to reliable high-speed internet, and in response to a shortage of health care providers in rural Nevada, she is leading the fight to increase the number of physicians in rural hospitals. |

She has consistently fought for tribal communities in Nevada, leading efforts in the Senate to combat the crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and passing two bills, Savanna’s Act and the Not Invisible Act, that were signed into law in 2020. She secured the largest investment in Native programs in Senate history and has been a leader in the fight to expand health care access and improve housing in Native communities in Nevada. With the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, Cortez Masto delivered critical resources to lower energy costs and create clean energy jobs in Indian Country. |
